Discipline is a key value at MJS, balanced with care and support for every child’s well-being.
Our approach to discipline
Students move in an orderly way between classes, at arrival, break and dispersal. Teachers on a rotating duty roster, sports staff, security personnel and the student council keep students safe at all times — including on school buses. Students are expected to be polite and courteous to teachers, staff and peers.
The discipline committee has five members, including the Principal, supervisors and activity coordinators. Behaviour is managed positively in class; unacceptable conduct is classed as yellow card (minor) or red card (major) behaviour, each with clear consequences.
Student counselling
Recognising behavioural and academic difficulties early is important for a child’s healthy growth. A trained counsellor supports both students and parents with academic, behavioural and socio-emotional concerns.
